I pictured a rainbow
you held it in your hands
I had flashes
but you saw the plan
I wandered out in the world for years
while you just stayed in your room
I saw the crescent
you saw the whole of the moon!
The whole of the moon!

You were there at the turnstiles
with the wind at your heels
You stretched for the stars
and you know how it feels
To reach too high
too far
too soon
you saw the whole of the moon!

I was grounded
while you filled the skies
I was dumbfounded by truth
you cut through lies
I saw the rain-dirty valley
you saw Brigadoon
I saw the crescent
you saw the whole of the moon!

I spoke about wings
you just flew
I wondered, I guessed, and I tried
you just knew
I sighed
but you swooned
I saw the crescent
you saw the whole of the moon!
The whole of the moon!

With a torch in your pocket
and the wind at your heels
You climbed on the ladder
and you know how it feels
To GET too high
too far
too soon
you saw the whole of the moon!
The whole of the moon!

Unicorns and cannonballs,
palaces and piers,
Trumpets, towers, and tenements,
wide oceans full of tears,
Flags, rags, ferry boats,
scimitars and scarves,
Every precious dream and vision
underneath the stars

You climbed on the ladder
with the wind in your sails
You came like a comet
blazing your trail
Too high
too far
too soon
you saw the whole of the moon!

1 note

I was reminded of my playlist from my MRI tonight. No notice to pick what I wanted to listen to for an hour while trapped in a large clanking machine.

I never thought I’d be a lil claustrophobic..but being in that close a quarters for so long & not being able to move was an interesting challenge.

Thankfully I choose U2 - The Best of 1980–199 which basically meant my fave U2 album..”Rattle and Hum”.. plus a few extras from my other fave albums/songs.. like my very first moment/memory of U2..”Sunday Bloody Sunday”, & tracks from The Joshua Tree & singles like “Sweetest Thing”..

This was the last song on my MRI soundtrack..
(I can’t recall the order 100% atm..but I’ll post the others..), but since it was the very first U2 song I ever heard. I remember the moment like it just happened.
And I fell in love. With U2.

MRI’ing..

I *love* this quote from the article:
Why people find it hard to give up Pilates?!

“I hope I’ll be doing it into my nineties,” Lynne says. “I think it should be taught in schools; we’d have far fewer people in hospitals if everyone learnt the basics.”

Normally in time of economic hardship,…

k-oilotita-deactivated20120312 asked: is it your birthday too? Happy birthday :D !

Sorry.. I totally missed this note before..
Yes.. it was my birthday.. on Oct 23rd! :)

“The Rainbow Connection” was written for The Muppet Movie and was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Song in 1979.
It is sung by Kermit as the movie’s opening number and reprised by the whole cast of Muppets at the end of the movie.
The single of this song reached #25 on Billboard’s “Hot 100 Singles” chart in 1979.

Incredible that a song sung by a puppet (& a bunch of other puppets..)..pardon me.. Muppets!.. Could make it on the Billboard Charts..this speaks to how incredible The Muppets truly were.

Although..with Kermit the Frog & Miss Piggy as the role models of relationships for our generation.. it’s no wonder we’re so screwed up.. ;)

But..I must admit..If I ever get married..I think this might be my 2nd song choice..after Stairway to Heaven. Oh yes. I am a child of the 70’s & 80’s indeed..

“The Rainbow Connection”

Why are there so many songs about rainbows
and what’s on the other side?
Rainbows are visions, but only illusions,
and rainbows have nothing to hide.
So we’ve been told and some choose to believe it.
I know they’re wrong wait and see.

Someday we’ll find it, the rainbow connection.
The lovers, the dreamers and me.

Who said that wishes would be heard and answered when wished on the morningstar?

Someone thought of that and someone believed it.
Look what it’s done so far.
What’s so amazing that keeps us stargazing and what do we think we might see?

Someday we’ll find it, the rainbow connection.
The lovers, the dreamers and me.
All of us under its spell.
We know that it’s probably magic.
Have you been half asleep and have you heard voices?
I’ve heard them calling my name.

Is this the sweet sound that calls the young sailors.
The voice might be one and the same.

I’ve heard it too many times to ignore it.
It’s something that I’m supposed to be.

Someday we’ll find it, the rainbow connection,
the lovers, the dreamers and me.
Someday we’ll find it, the rainbow connection,
the lovers, the dreamers and me.

U2 - Stuck In A Moment - Live Acoustic (start)

One of the most beautiful versions!

I’m not afraid of anything in this world
There’s nothing you can throw at me
   that I haven’t already heard
I’m just trying to find a decent melody
A song that I can sing in my own company

I never thought you were a fool
But darling, look at you
You gotta stand up straight, carry your own weight
These tears are going nowhere, baby

You’ve got to get yourself together
You’ve got stuck in a moment and now you can’t get out of it
Don’t say that later will be better now you’re stuck in a moment
And you can’t get out of it

I will not forsake, the colours that you bring
But the nights you filled with fireworks
They left you with nothing
I am still enchanted by the light you brought to me
I still listen through your ears, and through your eyes I can see

And you are such a fool
To worry like you do
I know it’s tough, and you can never get enough
Of what you don’t really need now… my oh my

You’ve got to get yourself together
You’ve got stuck in a moment and now you can’t get out of it
Oh love look at you now
You’ve got yourself stuck in a moment
and now you can’t get out of it

I was unconscious, half asleep
The water is warm till you discover how deep…
I wasn’t jumping… for me it was a fall
It’s a long way down to nothing at all

You’ve got to get yourself together
You’ve got stuck in a moment and now you can’t get out of it
Don’t say that later will be better now
You’re stuck in a moment and you can’t get out of it

And if the night runs over
And if the day won’t last
And if our way should falter
Along the stony pass

And if the night runs over
And if the day won’t last
And if your way should falter
Along the stony pass
It’s just a moment
This time will pass

James Holden - A Break In The Clouds

Nice. Smooth. Drifting. Needed.

Smooth..sexy.. #inSONGnia..

..with guitar that slides up & down your body..from cranium and occipital ridge..on down the spine, out along the shoulder blades..

..teasing along to find the ulnar nerve and on down to the fingertips..circling back down across the neck, the breast, the chest, the stomach..

..Swirling with inner thighs & popliteal fossas..meandering to the very last metatarsal & phalanges…

With that Driving. Driving. Beat.

#Pilates 101: ~Unlike many “fad” exercises out there..Pilates has a strong foundation in rehab, mind/body & exercise physiology.

Pilates 101: How Pilates Works (http://bit.ly/peguL2)

Great article..but..

Issues I have with this article:

1. Saying: “Pilates vs. Yoga - Even though Pilates engages both the body and mind, it does not seek to unify the two as Yoga does.”

~ Pilates does not necessary have a strictly spiritual component as Yoga does, however, it DOES unify the body and mind.. and a practitioner can chose to incorporate this more deeply into their practice or not.

But speaking from personal experience..you WILL have the MOST effect & impact of including Pilates in your life..if you recognize that it works on more than the physical level. I find it the most centering & body and mind unifying practice I’ve ever done, aside from NIA (http://bit.ly/ppG3ep)..and I really believe the combination of NIA & Pilates to be fantastic.
(& I did yoga for close to 15yrs before finding Pilates).

2. Saying: “Pilates is not a complete physical training program. It does not provide the cardiovascular benefits of aerobic exercises.”

~At more advanced levels it is quite possible to flow from exercise to exercise either on the floor/matwork either as is, or using props, and most definitely with the full equipment & create an aerobic exercise experience..bearing in mind..the distinct definition of “Aerobic” to be:

“Aerobic means exercise [sic] that is of relatively low intensity & long duration, which depends primarily on the aerobic energy system. Aerobic means “with oxygen”, and refers to the use of oxygen in the body’s metabolic or energy-generating process (http://bit.ly/n3piGq)

~ Pilates is MOST certainly aerobic & its effectiveness in the “fat-burning” range as a weight bearing/muscle toning & building, while still being a supportive & rehabilitative exercise is really beyond compare!

3. Saying: “because there is no sanctioning body of Pilates to issue official teaching certificates, it’s sometimes difficult to know if you’re being taught classic or hybrid Pilates.”

~ In Canada, every province has fitness certification for “Group Exercise” and in most cases, Pilates requires additional certification, because it is more advanced & more specialized that most ”Group Exercise” programs & certifications. And even just as a Matwork Instructor, they are often more qualified than most personal trainers..(I can speak to this, because I am both.)

Then there is the The Pilates Association of Canada for both mat only & equipment instructors: http://bit.ly/niEYPX & the PMA/Pilates Method Alliance: http://bit.ly/pJZ5I6 for Professional certification for Pilates instructors - equipment instructors (incorporating mat). I’ll leave you to explore those websites, but mostly it comes down to insurance, and you can’t be insured unless you have the right certifications!

BUT..aside from these few points..an excellent article on “How Pilates works”..
